The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) is seeking to implement a suitable and sustainable Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) for Centres of Excellence (COE) in oncology and Nephrology, to be established on the site of the St. Joseph’s Hospital (SJH) in Kingston, with satellite cancer treatment facility on the grounds of the Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH) located two miles from the centre of Montego Bay (the “Project”).
The project vision has been updated to a System of Excellence concept in order to provide greater access and strengthen the quality of services throughout the island by implementing a hub and spoke model. The proposed hub and spoke model involves the COEs being the hub providing focused specialised services through referrals while other services such as screenings are integrate into existing public health facilities (spokes). The concept also includes the strategic purchasing of services from private providers.
