Background

The Caymanas Park horseracing facility, the only approved horseracing track in Jamaica, is owned by the Government of Jamaica (GoJ) through Caymanas Track Limited (CTL). CTL holds licenses from the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission for the promotion of horseracing at Caymanas and the operation and running of racing pools. CTL also manages the transmission of audio and video broadcasts of horseracing events to off-track betting facilities. CTL is located in Gregory Park, St. Catherine, on 196 acres of land.

Privatisation of the operations and management of CTL through the Ministry of Finance and Public Service.

Status

The transaction agreements between the Government of Jamaica and Supreme Venture Limited for the CTL opportunity was signed on February 10, 2017. The new entity, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited took over operations of the Track on 7 March 2017.
