Description and location

The National Education Trust (NET) has identified a private sector provider to undertake the financing, installation and maintenance of photovoltaic generation systems in a pilot project of 30 select secondary schools. The project will be implemented under an Energy Service Company (ESCO) model with payment to the private sector being made from savings.

The objectives of the project are to:
• Reduce the energy cost to the schools by 40-70% and, ultimately, to reduce the fiscal burden of the Government of Jamaica.
• Create an energy conservation and efficiency education programme simultaneously
• To demonstrate the model for effective replicability throughout the school system

Status The signing of the Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) for the transaction was done on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 with the Energy Savings Company (ESCO). The ESCO is a Special Purpose Vehicle that has been established in Jamaica by Roswall Inc/Williams Evergreen/Brison Development for the execution of the project. The ESCO entered a fifteen (15) year ESPC with the Government of Jamaica, through the MOEY and NET.
