DBJ to Host One-Day Summit Targeting SMEs

(Kingston, Jamaica) The Development Bank of Jamaica will on Tuesday, November 7, host a one-day summit for small and medium sized businesses under the theme – EMPOWERING FOR SUCCESS: talk, connect grow.

 The SME Summit is aimed at providing Jamaican small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with cutting edge information and the tools to assist them in growing and sustaining their businesses.

“At the DBJ, we are focused on facilitating economic growth and development for all Jamaicans. It is our mission to ensure that the Jamaican SMEs are provided with the requisite products, and services that will grow their businesses resulting in job creation, and increased wealth for all,” states Milverton Reynolds, Managing Director.

 The Summit will be held at the Knutsford Court Hotel and will see some seven panel discussions, presentations and fireside conversation geared at providing participants with information and cutting-edge tools that will help them to become innovative 21st century businesses.

“We have been able to assemble over 20 expert speakers in the areas of innovative businesses, technological solutions for SMEs, international trends in human resource development and cyber security among other relevant topics,” explains, Audrey Richards, Project Coordinator, Jamaica Venture Capital Programme at DBJ.

Christopher Brown, General Manager in charge of Strategic Services at DBJ stated, “We are excited to be able to offer the Jamaican SMEs this world-class event. The day’s event starts at 8:00 a.m., and the opening panel will feature an interesting discussion between three Jamaican companies – Yello Media Group, Island Grill and Ingenuity Technologies. Serial entrepreneur Gordon Swaby, Founder and CEO of EduFocal, will moderate the session. The day ends at 4:30 p.m., with a major networking session.

Other discussions will include: Acquiring the Right Capital to expand regionally and internationally; Putting Together the Pieces to Drive Growth for the SME sector, a robust discussion between Omar Azan, Oral Shaw and Michelle Chong to be moderated by Dennis Chung; Understanding the Role of Culture in Businesses and Chris Dehring, Founder of ReadyTV will present on the topic of  – Boosting Creative Potential.
